Summary on Cross-section Design
1. Dimensions in drawings are in m, those of area are in m2; scale of cross-section profile is 1:400, except those otherwise noted.
2. Symbol in the drawing:
T—— height of fills; W——depth of cuts; AT ——area of fills; AW——area of cuts;
3. Dimension of interception ditch on slope: 50cm×50cm rectangular ditch, and under the premise of ensuring the net 5m spacing beyond cut slope, its location should be set out according to specific terrain conditions so as to ensure smooth drainage.
4. Cut area has taken into consideration the area of road trough.
5. In cross-section profile, sectional area in fill section has been adjusted as follows:
A. Area of structural course of pavement is deducted;
B. Fill area has taken into account the quantity for removing 10cm topsoil and sub-base compaction as well as 30cm excessive fills beyond 2 roadside;
6. For details in super-elevation section, please refer to “Super-elevation Design” and “Form of Subgrade Design”.
7. Side ditch in cut section is of concrete structure, whereas drainage ditch in fill section and interception ditch on slope are of mortar bound rubble masonry structure, which are not shown in related drawings.
8. For details concerning Subgrade protection and subgrade drainage, please refer to “Bill of Quantity of Subgrade Prevention Works” and “Bill of Quantity of Subgrade Drainage Works”.
9. In subgrade setting out, ground line of cross-section should be checked stake by stake, and for those great errors regarding ground line of cross-section, the in-situ measured cross-section profile obtained in proof-survey will prevail.
